It’s time to thank everyone for riding our brevets in 2012.  We had a very good, safe year.  I also want to thank all those that helped out by mapping routes, hosting events, or helping run rest stops for our riders.  Each volunteer’s contribution has made our brevet series much better than anything I could have produced on my own.

I would encourage everyone to keep in shape for 2013 because we have another busy year planned.  The brevets begin on  January 1st and ramp up quickly.  There should be plenty of events to choose from.  If you decide that you can’t ride an entire brevet, we can always use some volunteer help supporting those that  do.

Highlights for 2013 include another fleche, a new 600k from Athens to Vidalia (Sweet Onion Six-hundred), and the Double Cross Georgia 1000k starting in Dublin.  It should be noted that all of our longest rides have shorter options available for those interested.  I don’t want our most hardcore riders to think I’ve gotten soft, so I’m also finishing up a new 600k permanent  starting in Clayton that will have a very conservative 34,000 feet of climbing called the Georgia Super Randonnee.  Keep riding.

If the Georgia brevet dates don't fit your schedule, there are still plenty of ride options available.  You can find several great permanent routes in the Georgia and South Carolina area from the RUSA site here.  There are also a multitude of brevets now in our neighboring states, including:

Alabama:  Birmingham

Florida:   Central , Gainesville , and Southern

North Carolina:  High Point and Raleigh

Tennessee:  Nashville
